Halcyon macleayii

Uncommon in northern Australia, irregular migrant in eastern Australia, leaving some years, staying others. Feeding on dry land on grasshoppers, lizards etc. A loud scissor-like 'scissor-weeya scissoraweeya'. Nests are hole in earthen banks, trees or termite mounds.
