Trichoglossus haematodus

Eastern Australia from Cape York south to Tasmania and west to Kangaroo Island and Eyre Peninsular. Also Indonesia, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Gathers in flocks to roost and may travel considerable distances seeking blossom-laden trees. In some areas flocks visit houses and can be hand fed. Noisy screech while in flight, pleasant single note while feeding. Nesting in unlined hollow tall tree. September to January.
